Vera is probably best known for her silk scarves.
The original 'Signature' scarf -
Vera discovered parachute silk in an army surplus store during World War II, and silk screened designs - signed simply with 'Vera'.
Later she added a lady bird - ladybug - to her signature.
They were incredibly popular, Marilyn Monroe was a great fan and wore one - with nothing else - for a famous Vogue magazine fashion shoot.
