Inspiring Artist of the day - Maxfield Parrish

Consummate draughtsman, superb anatomical drawing with a colour sense beyond the pale.

Parrish worked as an illustrator, most of his early work being line illustrations in black on white, but later became known for his bright saturated colours in particular the stunning blue you see here - it became known as 'Parrish' blue.

Man could he paint light!

Edison- Mazda Lamps and General Electric thought so too and employed him to design their advertising posters and calendar illustrations.

He also illustrated children's books including Mother Goose in prose by l. Frank Baum - the man who wrote The Wonderful Wizard of Oz - in 1897.
